TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 
Each participant must submit for the 2019 edition of the competition one recipe. Recipes entered must be the original creation of the competitors. Recipes must be submitted via the application form available in both Icelandic and English on the website www.jimbeam.is. Recipes submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.

The entry form submitted must include the name and last name of the participant, name of the drink, the recipe, the method, a few words on the inspiration for the cocktail (which the participant can use on the presentation during the competition), workplace, email and a picture(s) of the cocktail with an option to add a video of the cocktail preparation and mixing process. The video is not mandatory. No changes may be made to the cocktails after the entry form has been submitted.

The recipe requires a minimum of 3cl of either Jim Beam White, Jim Beam Black, Jim Beam Double Oak, Jim Beam Honey, Jim Beam Apple, Jim Beam Red Stag, Jim Beam Devil´s Cut or any combination of these liquids and at least one Icelandic ingredient or element that is reminiscent of Iceland. All quantities of fruit, herbs, vegetables and other liquids used in the recipe must be stipulated on the recipe submission document, exact measures must always be stated. Cocktail names including rude, sexual and racist words are prohibited.

The garnish can count as the mandatory Icelandic ingredient. Decorations however may be used anywhere on the glass but are not considered as ingredients.
Competitors will be given 5 minutes to set-up for the competition. Competitors will have 15 minutes for their routine in both the preliminary round and the final round.
It is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure the recipe complies with these rules. A briefing will be shared via e-mail with the shortlisted participants partaking in the preliminary round. The purpose of the briefing is to clarify the rules for the competitors. It is the responsibility of the competitor to read the briefing.

The 15 participants of the preliminary round will be notified via e-mail that they have been selected with an option to choose between two dates to participate of the preliminary round. Should the competitor fail to respond within the deadline stipulated in the e-mail, a reminder will be sent as well as an attempt to reach the participant via phone. If no response or confirmation is received, the applicant will be automatically eliminated and their spot given to someone else.

If a competitor is selected to participate in either the preliminary and later at the final round, confirms attendance but fails to show-up, he or she will not be allowed to participate of the competition the following year.

The winner´s prize comprehends a trip of between 2-4 days to the United States to visit the Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky in 2020. The reward includes airfare from Iceland to Kentucky (with at least one connecting flight), accommodation and transport to and from the distillery and to and from the airport. All other personal expenses or travel related expenses are not covered by Vínnes ehf. and are the sole responsibility of the winner of the competition. For example, if the competitor requires an ESTA authorization to travel to the US, Vínnes ehf. does not cover the cost of the permit or assist in any way with visa or permits. All visa and permit matters should be handled directly with the pertinent US authorities.

It is solely the competitor´s responsibility to guarantee they have no previous or existing restrictions to travel to the United States territory and to ensure they have the required visa or permit to enter the United States and remain in the country during the stipulated period as required by US authorities. Neither Jim Beam Co. nor Vínnes ehf. are responsible if the winner of the competition is denied boarding or entry to the United States and no refunds or alternative travel option will be offered.

The date of the trip will be mutually agreed between Vínnes ehf. and the competitor, once the date is set and confirmed by both parties it cannot be changed. If cancelled by the competitor no re-booking will be offered.

By agreeing to our terms and conditions you agree to us sharing images of your drink and yourself preparing the drink in either the preliminary and/or final round on our website and/or social media channels. You also agree to us listing your recipe and pictures of your cocktail on our website Cocktail Section currently under construction.
